We invite you to come enjoy a variety of outdoor experiences and recreational opportunities at any of our lakes, rivers, parks, trails, prairies, marshes and woodlands. The Conservation Board has 35 different areas (3,444 acres) within Cerro Gordo County, each offering different activities such as camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, and much more! Check out the Recreational Experiences Close to Home Brochures below for more information.
Parks and Trails Map
The Lime Creek Nature Center has two “smart trails” available for hikers. Smart trails use quick response (QR) codes that can be scanned by a reader on a mobile device. The trail user stops at a post with a QR code and scans it, which opens a short educational video about a natural resource topic. Download a QR code reader app on your smart phone, then take a hike and enjoy our smart trails! Click on the links below for a map of each trail.
Explore Outdoors Packs
Explore Outdoors packs are backpacks that contain materials and activities designed to engage elementary aged children in outdoor experiences and help them connect to the natural world. Use them in county conservation areas, city parks, on camping trips, or even in your own backyard! These packs can be checked out for a two week period free of charge from the Lime Creek Nature Center office or gift shop volunteers. You can also call ahead to reserve one at 641-423-5309.
